Heward, through his expertise as one of Utah’s top plein air painters, depicts Mt. Nebo—the southernmost and highest mountain in the Wasatch Range of Utah. Painted with the characteristics of California Impressionism, the artist uses loose brushwork, rich color, and an attentiveness to sunlight to give the viewer an essence of the scene rather than an exact reproduction.
