A set of tracks make their way through the foreground of this composition, splitting towards the left and right of the piece. Five Indigenous figures stare down at a man kneeling in the snow, awaiting his assessment and the decision that will determine the next steps of their journey. Flecks of snow dot the entirety of the composition, emphasizing the harsh conditions these men are working in and the determination they have in finding their target. The presence of abundant weaponry suggests this group is preparing for a fight and will not be caught unawares.
