Two Native American figures on horseback are captured in casual conversation. A shadow envelops the valley in which they ride, signifying the onset of evening. Trees behind the riders are painted in a pale golden hue that brilliantly captures the fading light. The landscape is dotted with sagebrush and set against cool, rolling hills. The bright sky creates a striking contrast to the earthy tones of the foreground. Warren’s signature impressionistic, painterly brushstrokes imbue the piece with a sense of movement and vibrancy.
