Two men on horses lead a wagon train as it cuts across the Southwestern desert. The guide is presented in contrasts from the company—white horse, blue clothing, long hair—to obviate him as an outsider. This idea is underlaid with irony as it is the company, in spite of their parallel coloration to the desert, who are unfamiliar with the territory.
