One of Utah’s early painters, having moved there by wagon train in 1861, Ottinger’s work consists of historical depictions, landscapes, and portraits. Here we observe a waterfall cascading over a small cliffside. The lighting and detail of the surrounding vegetation, as well as the loss of sharp lines in the tree line above, captures a wonderful sense of depth.
