A snowy forest of pine trees and aspens are skillfully rendered against rolling hills, lending a sense of depth and movement to the majestic scene. The morning light that hits the distant peaks, casting them in a warm glow, is the most striking aspect of the piece. The brightly lit peaks are in contrast with the cool, shadowy valley below.
