A Native American man stoops by a rushing stream, bringing a cupped hand close to his face. He appears to be caught in a moment of contemplation before springing into action. His intensity is accentuated by the dark, solid, and strong brushstrokes that shape him and which connect him to the similarly dark and solid composition of the stone and deep, forest shadows. A glittering sheen is cast over the painting as light scatters itself across the leaves and running stream. A softly illuminated grizzly bear lurks not far from where the man crouches, both looking at an unknown target that sits just beyond the frame.
