The setting sun illuminates a celestial site and its stunning pastel skies. Acoma Pueblo, Sky City, is an ancient sacred place located atop a 367-foot sandstone bluff. Located in New Mexico, the village covers 431,664 acres with 250 dwellings. It was founded by the Acoma people as a place of safety against Spanish conquistadors looking for gold in the 16th century. Today, about 50 members of the Acoma tribe inhabit the space, and it is used primarily as a ceremonial site.
