Mountains, lakes, and valleys sprawl out before the viewer in a dramatic sweep of color. The foreground—brown, muted, and wintry—slopes into the warmth of springtime brought out by the vivid blues and greens of the lake and valley below. Distant mountains are accented by snow and enshrouded in cloud, mist, and a kind of untouchable dignity.
