A variety of characters appear in this Ottinger scene. Armed pirates appear to be ravaging a home, either slaughtering or enslaving male residents and grossly manhandling female ones. The clarity of each figure varies, with the man and woman in the center appearing most vividly. An overhead light casts light unevenly around the room, specifically highlighting our center characters. 

The words “Sketch for the Buccanier’s” appear across the bottom of the piece.
