Towering peaks rise above glassy water with snow adorning their upper slopes and shadowy crevices. The morning light creates a halo behind the peaks, enhancing the sense of majesty and grandeur of the scene. The semi-impressionistic use of light and color captures the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, for which Curtis is known to paint.
